Newborn kittens are kept in large kitty playpens with their mothers during their first 3 weeks of life. The queens are free to come and go during the day at will. As soon as the kittens are old enough to walk about, they are moved into a room, in which they can play, climb and practice their stalking, prowling and ambushing skills. Cann-Dee-Apple kittens have a clean, safe, and stimulating environment, with a variety of toys, scratching posts, climbing equipment, windows to look out of, cozy hammocks to nap in, and boxes to hide in. Litter, dry kitten food and water are always available. Our kittens are handled frequently every day. I know that early in a kitten's life frequent handling is crucial to socialization with humans. At 10 weeks, the kittens are ready to go to their new homes. Each kitten will have had a first shot by that time (Feline Rhinotracheitis-Calici-panleukopenia vaccine), and will have been given medication to ensure that it is free of parasites (Strongid-T).
